Colorado GOP Statement on Juneteenth

June 19, 2020

Greenwood Village, CO. — Colorado GOP Chairman Ken Buck released the following statement today in honor of Juneteenth:

“155 years ago today, the joyous news about President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation finally made its way to enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas, and ultimately brought an end to the horrible injustice of slavery,” stated Colorado GOP Chairman Ken Buck. “Juneteenth is a reminder for all that we still have work to do in creating a world where justice and freedom prevail for all Americans. I am proud to join with communities across our state to celebrate Juneteenth, as well as continue the work that President Lincoln started to ensure that America is the land of the free for every American.

“We will continue to pray for unity and peace during these times of unrest. Our Party is the Party of freedom, we should use the anniversary of Juneteenth as an opportunity to come together to fight for justice, liberty, and opportunity for all Americans.”
