COGOP Statement on Hickenlooper Ethics Sentencing
GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO – The Colorado Republican Committee released the following statement regarding the decision by the Independent Ethics Commission to fine John Hickenlooper for his violations of the Colorado Constitution:
“Public office is a public trust and John Hickenlooper repeatedly violated that trust. The IEC made the right decision today by giving Hickenlooper the largest fine in the Commission’s history. Hickenlooper clearly owes the IEC and the people of Colorado an apology for this embarrassing episode.” – COGOP Spokesman Joe Jackson
- The Independent Ethics Committee voted this afternoon 5-0 to not “purge” the contempt charge against John Hickenlooper.
- The IEC voted 4-0 to penalize Hickenlooper $2,200 for taking a private flight to Connecticut.
- The IEC voted 4-1 to authorize a $550 penalty for his trip to the exclusive Bilderberg Conference in Italy.
- John Hickenlooper received the biggest fine ever levied by the Independent Ethics Commission.
